D&T: Picture frames
We started designing and making our picture frames. The children used the clamps, bench hooks and junior hacksaws with increasing confidence and cut their wood after they had measured it first. They all said that it was great fun!
Science- Rocks and fossils
We have started our new science topic 'Rocks and fossils'. The children had a lot of fun observing closely a variety of rocks and carrying out a fair test to decide which rocks were the hardest and which ones allowed the water to go through them.

Land use and local bee keepers
Our local bee keeper advises us about how to care for our honey bees. They will soon be relocated to Cressing Temple Barns. We look forward to receiving news about the colony.
Today, we tried to find out about the characters introduced to us in 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl. This is our group reader. We listen to an adult reading, sometimes, we join in too and we learn how to comprehend events in the story so far. We also learn how to change our voices when reading, to match the punctuation in the text. Wonderful drama in class today during our hot seating session. Well done!

Responding to class reading book, 'Fantastic Mr Fox'.
To enable the children to have a viewpoint based upon events in the class reader, 'Fantastic Mr Fox', children were encouraged to use drama and 'conscious alley'. This is a well known teaching tool, to support their learning.
