HFS PLAY LEADERS

Our school is extremely lucky to have brilliant play leaders. At lunch time their role is to play with children who would like to join in, and to organise playground games. Popular games that they like to play are:  skipping, bowling, basketball shooting, block building. 

Below are some reflections from our Year 6 play leaders on their time so far in the role.

       "There are many positives of being a play leader.  One I found is learning to be more patient with others.  This has helped me to have fun and play with younger children.  I get to invent and play games.  I enjoy organising and encouraging others to join in and play."

        " I enjoy play leading as I get to make children happy by creating a game for them and talking to them."

         "It benefits me by letting me improve children's lunchtimes and including people in fun games.  By being a play leader children will never get left out."

         " Play leading is a very fun experience.  I love it because you get to play with the younger children.  It is about encouraging people to play games if they are a bit lonely at lunchtime, also it allows you to make friends with the younger children."

         "I make fun games for children in younger classes.  This is so little children can choose to have a happy playtime with me or the other play leaders.  I enjoy this job because I get to play with the younger children, and I can make more friends.  It is a useful job in school because more people are getting confident and have a fun time."
