Around the World Day 2024 - Oceans

This year, the Laudato Si team found out about 'Our Blue' - a global experiment by the Ocean Conservation Trust.

"The yearly theme provides the foundation for the event.  This year we’re exploring what it means to be a ‘good blue human’. We’re collaborating with our amazing partners and guest scientist Dr Pamela Buchan from the University of Exeter to create an experiment to collect data from schools around the world on marine identity, marine citizenship & place attachment."

The learning objectives are based on three concepts-
Marine identity - Who we are ‘being’ in relation to the ocean

Marine citizenship - What we are ‘doing’ in relation to the ocean
Place attachment - How we are connecting to the ocean

Over the year, we shall introduce challenges for the classes to get involved in to help them learn about how we can help to support, not only the oceans, but our own local blue spots.  There are six amazing activities that make up the Our Blue experiment - each of them will help to collect data and learn how we can all become good blue humans.

The team have already signed the manifesto to get us started and we shall be introducing challenges throughout the year.
