Dear Parents and Carers,
We recognise this is a difficult and stressful time for us all and we appreciate all the hard work you are doing to support us and your children. We know that some of our children may be struggling with their feelings at the moment and to understand everything that is going on, we also know that many of you may be concerned about the amount of time the children are having to spend on screens and finding it hard sometimes to get the children to engage in home learning. So, if you are having issues getting them down to work or they are feeling low, or just spending too much time online please check out the following.
We have put together some resources that cover:
These are all available below.
All of these resources provide learning opportunities and support for the whole family. Paper packs to collect can be made available, requests need to be sent to InclusionMail@holyfamilyrc.essex.sch.uk
Also, available below is guidance on delivering Paired Reading. If your child is a reluctant reader or is struggling to read, please do take a look at this proven method to help your child improve their reading and confidence.
Mrs S Gibbs.
Please see the link below to the Essex Adult college of learning (ACL). Currently, they are running a number of free online courses these include; Managing big emotions in children, understanding separation anxiety, sibling rivalry, choices and consequences and understanding anxiety in your child. They are also running online courses to help parents with home learning, during this period of school closures, I recommend visiting their facebook page for more information too.
Having attended some of their courses myself I can highly recommend them.
Mrs S Gibbs.
Please see information below sent to us from County to support parents/carers of children with SEND
For complaints please note the following;
'Parents are encouraged to discuss any problems or grievances with the class teacher in the first instance. The class teacher will liaise with the Inclusion manager, Head Teacher or members of the Senior Leadership Team.'
Please see also our complaints policy.
Do you have any concerns about the mental health or well-being of your child? Or if your child seems anxious or worried? These websites are really useful as sources of information and support, not only for parents, but also for older children to access if and when they want advice. I would be really interested to hear if you choose to use them and find them useful.
A colleague from another school has also recommended the following to me;
an app called Head space for helping to reduce anxiety and promote feelings of calm and well being. Down load the app for a trial period or log on to https://www.headspace.com to find out more.
|Meditation and Mindfulness Made Simple - Headspace
Live a happier, healthier life with just a few minutes of meditation a day on the Headspace app.
Also if you are concerned that your child may at risk of behavioural problems please visit the ministry of parenting at www.theministryofparenting.com, they have recently run two successful Incredible Years' courses at our school and feedback from parents has been very positive.
Finally there is always lots information, advice and support available from the Essex local offer at http://www.essexlocaloffer.org.uk , if you haven't taken a look yet, please do take some time to check it out.
