After tasting some different cereal and fruit, the children were asked to design their own healthy breakfast snack using the ingredients that were provided for them. They were able to practise peeling, cutting and chopping before creating their final product. They all looked delicious!

As part of our History topic on Romans, we visited Colchester Castle. It was a very busy day, packed with a variety of activities including looking at Roman artefacts, attempting to build a roundhouse and a Roman villa and climbing down the biggest Norman spiral staircase in England to reach the Roman Vaults underneath the Castle. A fantastic day!

The children really enjoyed designing and making their own pencil cases. They practised different types of stitching, learnt how to attach a button and finally evaluated how good their pencil case was. We thought they were all brilliant :)

Welcome to Year 3

We have really enjoyed spending time with your children during the last few weeks and we are looking forward to getting to know them better. They are a lovely group of children to work with.

Below are some of the tasks the children need to make sure they complete each week:

Homework

Homework in Maths and English is set every week on a Wednesday and a letter is handed out to the children on that day along with a copy of the homework. You should also be receiving this via email- please contact the office if that is not the case so we can add your email address to the Year 3 group email. The homework is then expected to be handed in by the following Tuesday.

Spellings

Spellings are set weekly on Spelling Shed, following our spelling lesson in class.

We would expect the children to log into Spelling Shed at least 4-5 times a week, only for 5-10 minutes

Times tables

We would also expect the children to log into Times Tables RockStars at least 5 times a week, too.

Spelling Test

Each week, on a Wednesday, the children will have a spelling test on their weekly spellings, starting from the 29th of September.

PE

During the first half-term, PE is on a Wednesday afternoon, however, after the half term holiday, PE will move to Tuesday. Please, ensure that your child has the correct kit in school at all times. Earrings can not be worn for PE lessons. If your child cannot remove their earrings independently, then please make sure to take them out before school.
