Welcome to Year 2!

Welcome back to school – it is so lovely to be together again.  The children have been settling in to the new classroom and routines amazingly well, considering it is so different from what they have been used to.  Myself and Mrs McIntyre have been enjoying getting to know them all as unique and special individuals.

This term our main topics are 'Where in the World?' and ’Fire! Fire!’  Keep an eye out for pictures of the children at work in their new class as the weeks progress...this may be on Seesaw as well as on the class web page.

I have attached the overview of the term's topic.  If your child has anything relevent about the topic to share in class, you can take a photograph or video at home using Seesaw and they can then share this with the rest of the class in school when we have a spare moment.

Changing Reading Books:

At the moment, we are beginning to assess your children’s reading level and phonics level so that personalised books suitable and challenging for them to practise the reading skills taught in school can be sent home.  This is done 1:1 and does take time, so please be patient with us.  As soon as we can, we will provide them with two more books weekly.

Currently, they are bringing Bedtime Books home from our lovely selection of Reading Journey books and we hope you are enjoying reading this book during the week a couple of times – discussing the author, illustrator, pictures in the books, character and how they behave and helping to repeat parts of the text with some lovely expression.
