Welcome to Year 1!

The children have settled into their new routines very well and are working happily.

Reading books will be given out on Monday. Please read with your child on a daily basis and spend some time practising the HF and tricky word list in the home/school book. Books will usually be changed on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please sign the book when you have heard your child read. Books will only be changed if this is done.

Please sign the home/school agreement which will be given out next week and help your child to do the same. This will be kept in their book bag during the year.

Attached to this letter is a copy of our theme planner for this half term. This will give you an overview of what we will be covering.

Our PE lessons will usually be on a Tuesday and I will confirm next week our second PE day. If your child wears earrings to school please make sure that they are removed on those days as children with earrings are not allowed to take part in PE for health and safety reasons. Thank-you for your co-operation.

Next week in Maths we will be covering place value, counting forwards and backwards and ordering numbers to 20. Counting groups of objects to 20.

In Literacy we will be working on activities linked to the story of kipper’s Birthday- sequencing the story/invitations.

Once the children have settled and I have worked with them for a while we will start to have spellings to learn for homework each week.

I am looking forward to working with you and your children this year.

Regards

Miss Funnell
